Captain Planet is Anti American!

It's been a while since I've taken a beloved cartoon or toyline and passed it through the Social Justice Warrior Lens... So, I'm back with my Plaid Shirt, Glasses without lenses and 2 Venti Mochaccinos and two large Ice Lattes... I need the Hipster Energy to work out throughout the bullcrap that I'm about to spew in the name of Justice... and First World Problems.

This time I'm going to talk about the Anti-Murican Propaganda from Captain Planet. So, scratch the Social Justice Warrior jokes... this time I'm going on the opposite end of the spectrum. Get me some Colt 45s a grill, Hot Dogs, Burgers, fireworks, a Bald Eagle, and Chuck Norris!!

Let's take a look at the Planeteers.
Linka and Gi: The females of the group... It's no coincidence that they are from Russia and "Asia" (undisclosed country, but I'm gonna guess China, because it's the biggest one in Asia)
what does Russia and China have in common? Communism!! It's like the show is saying: Become a communist, we have hotties here!

Next we have Kwame, from Africa... Yes, let's get the Toto reference out of the way.
So, he's from a stereotypical village in Sterotypical Africa, where everyone dresses like this:

That's racist!

So, he's the Leader of the Planeteers. He is calm, collected and knows what to do when the situation arises. That's cool...

Then we have Ma-Ti: The Kid of the Group, from some Village in the Amazon...
He has second hand donated 80s short shorts and stereotypical tribal clothing that may be from ancient Central American Indigenous tribes than modern Amazonian Tribe.

So, where is the Anti-American sentiment on Captain Planet?

OK, Who is the Comedic Relief of the team? The idiot who needs everything explained in Layman Terms? The one who the other Planeteers talk down to because he's basically The Orko, the Scrappy Doo, the Jar Jar Binks of the show... I'm talking about the American Planeteer, Wheeler...

Why does the American have to be the idiot? Simple: The show Hates America with a Passion!
Also, he's a High School dropout...

Still don't believe me that the show hates America?
Let's look at the Eco Villains:
Dr Blight, Blonde,White, very likely American.
Duke Nukem and Verminous Skumm... Both are mutants, but we are to believe that they are Caucasian due to their Red Hair...
Looten Plunder, White, Auburn hair...
Hoggish Greedly, Red hair, Light Skin... Almost pink...
Sly Sludge, Brown hair, white...
All of them have American Accents (The only one who does not is Plunder's sidekick, the Bald Australian dude, Bleak) He is also white... So, the Villains are mostly White American Businesspeople...
The good guys are a multi-cultural group of hippies who live in a commune while they try to teach the American Idiot their ways. Meanwhile they go about doing acts of terrorism in the name of the Planet. Not to mention damage the economy by leaving people without jobs whenever they "stop an eco villain from doing evil". Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damages done by Captain Planet.

So, long story short: to Captain Planet Americans = Idiots or Evildoers. It's not a coincidence that all the villains are Americans and that the "idiot" is an American. The reason is simple. To perform better in other countries, without having to bastardize the show to "appeal to the foreign audience". Trigger Warning: the following video may be considered offensive to American Patriotic Viewers. I am not trying to offend y'all. I am posting the video as a visual aide to explain the point I'm Making.

I apologize... by linking on the Real Intro now...

As I was saying, Having the Americans being idiots or plain evil allows the show to be popular in America Hating Countries... Now, Wouldn't having Gi and Linka being the second and third in command be a bit offensive to some of those Anti-American viewers. Not to mention that having the girls run around in short shorts...

I'm not even going to touch how the show has anti-Christian views with their "Magical rings" and worship of an ancient Greek deity. Not going to mention how all the Planeteers except Wheeler come from non-Christian backgrounds.

Getting offended and looking for stuff to get offended from children's cartoons and toylines is quite easy and a First World Problem. In This case I did not have to bend the truth too much. The nationalities of the Eco Villains is the closest to me stretching and bending the truth. In all fairness no nationality is mentioned, but their accents are clearly American, so it's not that much of a stretch to believe that they ARE American. Not to mention the PCness of having only White Villains, because having a Black Person being 1 dimensionally evil could be considered racist. On the other hand, Kwame and Ma-Ti have ultra racist origins... and I'm talking Tintin strip levels of racism. The only thing that could be more racist is Mr. Popo
"It's not racist if we paint him Blue!"-4Kids

I am hoping that the team working on Adapting Captain Planet to film. Fix some of the issues from the show that could be interpreted as anti-American and the Eco-Terrorism committed by Captain Planet and the Planeteers. (The heroes here are criminals like the villains they are stopping) when adapting the show into a movie. Also, SUBTLETY... The show completely lacked subtlety and was a bit too preachy at times (like 93% of the time); the movie will need some of it.
